Welcome to the site of the Belgian French Speaking Williams syndrome association
In 1992, in the french speaking Belgium, parents of children suffering from the Williams Syndrome have decided to gather in order to share their experiences and to defend the common godd of their children.
They thus set up the Williams Syndrome Section within the "Association Francophone d'Aide aux Handicapés Mentaux" (AFrAHM) (French-speaking Association of Assistance tomentally deficient people). The AfrAHM is with its flemish homologue, one of the two parts of the "Association Nationale d'Aide aux Handicapés Mentaux" (ANAHM) (National Association of assistance to mentally deficient people), under the high patronage of her Majesty the Queen Fabiola.
Our Association is working towards the following aims :
| to promote the exchange of information relating to the Williams Syndrome, | |
| to organize meetings between parents and professionals faced with this handicap, | |
| to defend chidren's interests with regards to the syndrome and its specificities | |
| to supply the documentation centre with the litterature about medical dicoveries and current researches | |
| to collaborate with medical and pedagogical research teams, | |
| to participate in conferences and study days concerning the syndrome, | |
| to get in touch with similar associations located in other countries |
